High Resolution
VUV Wavelength
Tunable Light Source and Detection System

This 0.1 nm resolution Vacuum Ultra-Violet tunable light source (TLS) and
detection system is designed to operate in the range 100-300 nm with a D2 lamp,
1/3 meter vacuum monochromator, Cesium Telluride photomultiplier, Labview™
interface and controlling electronics/PC. This system is a NIST-traceable
calibration standard in the range 110-300 nm.
It includes a motor drive system that automatically selects the
wavelength with Labview™ software.
Numerous operational modes are possible. When used as a standard light source
for calibration, it is monitored using the NIST traceable photomultiplier.
The system is shown in the picture.
The various subsystems are listed below:
-
1/3 meter concave holographic grating vacuum monochromator VM327
-
RF powered ultra low noise MgF2 windowed D2 lamp with power supply and
housing
-
Cesium Telluride PMT detector for range of 110 to 320 nm
-
Collimation
assembly, with a parabolic mirror inside of the vacuum and can be rotated to
direct the bean to the PMT and Exit Window for calibration.
-
PC-controlled Motor Drive
-
PC controlled data acquisition system
-
Software for simultaneous data acquisition and wavelength
scanning.
-
Compact vacuum station with pressure gauges
